What the colors say in chat
Unicode only names the colors. Meaning comes from people. Red is the plain love heart. Orange and yellow feel friendly, green reads as growth, luck or nature, blue as calm or loyalty, and purple as care. Black hearts can show dark humor or sadness, white hearts purity or a soft mood, and pink hearts sweetness. These readings can differ between friends, fandoms and countries, so treat them as habits, not rules, and add a word when the meaning matters. See also: thumbs up emoji.
Which heart is new on your phone
New hearts reach phones at different times. ๐ฉท ๐ฉต ๐ฉถ belong to Emoji 15.0, and โค๏ธโ๐ฅ โค๏ธโ๐ฉน to Emoji 13.1, so an older system may show a box or two separate emoji. A red โค๏ธ has been there since the first release and shows everywhere. For text hearts that follow the color of your writing, see the heart symbol page, and for the full emoji list see emoji copy and paste.

Device check
The emoji are copied exactly as shown, with the code in the tables. We have not yet tested them on specific phones or systems. If one appears as a box, email [email protected] with the character, device and system version. Names and versions come from the Unicode emoji data file, version 18.0, dated April 30, 2026.
