The grid holds 1,923 emoji in the order of the Unicode emoji data file, version 18.0, dated April 30, 2026. 325 of them have skin tone options, which adds hundreds of forms. The names are the official short names, and the E number shows the Emoji release in which each one appeared. A newer emoji may show as a box on an older phone.

Unicode assigns each emoji a code and a name, and nothing more. Each company designs its own artwork for the code: Apple, Google, Samsung and Microsoft all draw a grinning face in their own way. The meaning is the same, but the feeling can change, and a joke that works on one phone can look odd on another. Combined emoji, such as families and couples, are built from several emoji joined by an invisible joiner, so an older system may show the parts one after the other.
