EST and EDT, with this year’s dates
Eastern Time changes twice a year. In 2026 the clocks go forward on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at 2:00 AM local time, and back on Sunday, November 1, 2026 at 2:00 AM. The rule comes from federal law, 15 U.S.C. § 260a, which sets daylight saving time from the second Sunday of March to the first Sunday of November.
| Season | Short name | UTC offset | In 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Winter | EST, Eastern Standard Time | UTC−5 | From Sunday, November 1, 2026, and until Sunday, March 8, 2026 |
| Summer | EDT, Eastern Daylight Time | UTC−4 | From Sunday, March 8, 2026, until Sunday, November 1, 2026 |
