How We Test Our Tools

This page explains how the OxoApp tools are checked: which browser we use, which references supply the names, codes, time zones and sizes, how random results are drawn, and what we have not tested yet. Each tool is listed with its source and the date it was last checked.

What we use to test

The tools run in your browser, so we test them in a browser. Our checks so far use Google Chrome 151 on a Linux computer, with a desktop-sized window and a phone-sized window of 390 pixels. In each we press the buttons, copy results to the clipboard and read them back, resize the window and look for horizontal scrolling. We have not yet tested on iPhone Safari, on Android Chrome or on Firefox, and each tool page says so.

Tools, sources and last check

Names, codes, time zones and sizes come from public references, not from memory. The table shows the source for each group of tools and when it was last checked.

Tool Source What was checked Last checked
Symbols and symbol pages Names and U+ codes from the Unicode Character Database, read with Python unicodedata (Unicode 13); HTML entities from the HTML5 entity list Every symbol has a name and code; entities match the character October 26, 2026
Emoji pages Unicode emoji data file emoji-test.txt, version 18.0, dated April 30, 2026 Names, Emoji versions, skin tone variants and copy output October 26, 2026

Random results

The coin, dice, wheel and number pickers draw each result with the Web Crypto function getRandomValues in your browser. The answer is chosen before any animation starts, so the animation cannot change the odds. The results are for fun and quick choices, not for gambling or prize draws.

Marks used on tool pages

Tool pages use a few signs to show results. Copy them if you want to keep a checklist of your own.

Limits of our testing

  • A character may show as a box on a device that has no font for it. We list the code of each symbol so you can check it.
  • The on-screen ruler needs calibration and can be off by a millimetre or more.
  • Clocks follow your device clock and the rules in your browser, which may be older than the latest decision of a government.

Reports and fixes

If something is wrong, write to us from the contact page or by email. Tell us the page, your device and what you saw. We try to repeat the problem, check the reference source and fix the page, and the date at the bottom of the page shows when it changed. You can read more about the site or go back to OxoApp.

Frequently asked questions

Do you test on iPhone and Android?

Not yet. So far the tools have been tested in Google Chrome 151 on a Linux computer, at a phone-sized window and a desktop-sized window. Tests on iPhone Safari, Android Chrome and Firefox are still to do, and pages say so.

How are random results drawn?

The coin, dice, wheel and number tools use the Web Crypto function getRandomValues in your browser. The answer is chosen first, and any animation follows it.

What happens when I report a mistake?

We read the message, try to repeat it, check the reference source and fix the page. The page’s update date shows when it last changed. Write to [email protected].
