Delta Symbol
The delta symbol comes in two main forms: the Greek capital Δ (U+0394) and the small δ (U+03B4), plus the increment sign ∆ and triangles such as ▲ and △. Tap any of them below to copy it with its Unicode name and code, then paste it into a document, message or equation.

Copy a delta symbol in three steps
- Look for the shape you need: Greek letters come first, then the triangles and the wedge shapes.
- Tap it. The delta is copied and also added to the selection box above the grid.
- Paste it with Ctrl+V or Cmd+V. If it looks different in your document, change the font to one that has Greek letters, such as Arial or Times New Roman.

Δ or ∆: why there are two
Greek capital delta Δ belongs to the Greek and Coptic block and is the letter used in the alphabet. The increment sign ∆ was added to the Mathematical Operators block for the idea of an increase, such as the step between two values. Most fonts draw them the same, which is why people mix them up. If you write in Greek, or need text that a search will find, use Δ. If a program asks for the mathematical operator, use ∆.
Where the delta shows up
- Math and physics: Δx = x₂ − x₁ means the change in x. In algebra, the discriminant of a quadratic is often written Δ = b² − 4ac, and its sign tells you how many real roots the equation has.
- Geometry: △ABC names a triangle with corners A, B and C.
- Language: the NATO phonetic alphabet uses the word Delta for the letter D. A river delta is named for the shape of Δ, a name the Greek historian Herodotus used for the mouth of the Nile.

Delta in a nickname or bio
A delta is a common mark in usernames, gamer tags and bios because it is short and sharp. The samples below wrap the word delta in triangles and brackets. Tap one to copy it, and keep a plain-letter version in case the app rejects the symbol.
The word delta in styled letters
The same Unicode letter styles used on the OxoApp font pages work for words. Type any name into the box and copy a styled version for a bio or a title. The Greek letters themselves have no styled forms in these rows, so they stay as they are.

How to type delta on your device
- Word on Windows: type 0394, then press Alt+X.
- Mac: Option+J types ∆, the increment sign. For the Greek Δ use the character viewer with Control+Command+Space and search for delta.
- HTML: Δ gives Δ and δ gives δ.
- LaTeX: \Delta gives Δ, \delta gives δ and \triangle gives △.

Frequently asked questions
Are Δ and ∆ the same character?
No. Δ is Greek capital delta, U+0394, and ∆ is the increment sign, U+2206. They look almost the same in most fonts, but search, sorting and some apps treat them as different characters.
How do I type Δ in Word?
Type 0394 and press Alt+X, and Word turns it into Δ. For the small δ, type 03B4 and press Alt+X. Or open Insert, then Symbol, and choose Greek and Coptic.
Which delta do I use for change, as in ΔT?
Use the Greek capital Δ. Science and math texts write change as Δ followed by the quantity, such as ΔT for a change in temperature. Many people type ∆ on a Mac, where it is what Option+J produces, and it reads the same.
Is there a Deltarune text generator on this page?
No. Deltarune is the title of a video game and has no connection with this page, which covers the delta character and triangle symbols only.
